Did you know that one of the oldest military installations in the United States is right here in NYC?
Join New York Adventure Club for an exploration throughout the over 150-year-old Fort Tompkins, an abandoned fort inside the Fort Wadsworth complex on the northeastern shore of Staten Island.
Led by a National Park Service Ranger, our experience through one of the nation’s oldest military installations will include:
An overview of Fort Wadsworth and its importance throughout American history
An exploration of the many abandoned sections of Fort Tompkins, including the ammunition storage depot and iconic catacomb-like counterscarp gallery
A visit to the overlook above Battery Weed, which sits at the base of the Verrazano Bridge
Sweeping views of the Narrows of New York Harbor
See you there!
*Closed-toe shoes are required
**Please bring comfortable shoes and a bottle of water as we’ll be on our feet for the entire time!
