Not many people can say they live in one of the oldest houses in America, or have their own private cemetery — except one New Yorker.
Join New York Adventure Club as we take a private tour of the 1656 Lent-Riker-Smith Homestead, the oldest private dwelling in New York City, and arguably the United States.
Led by homeowner Marion Duckworth Smith, our experience at this 361-year-old house in East Elmhurst, Queens, will include:
The history behind the homestead, and story behind how Marion acquired it
A walk through of the house and grounds, including the downstairs living quarters, expansive garden, and 132 tombstone cemetery
A look at displays on view within the house that includes Marion’s collection of Carnival Chalkware Snow Whites, Carousel Artifacts, Broadway Theatrical Memorabilia, and, in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of WWI, the Ascenzi Family History
*Allergy note: attendees with pet allergies should take precaution as the homeowner has a cat
