Walk the streets of Victorian Flatbush with Ron Schweiger, the official Brooklyn Borough historian. The tour will cover the turn of the century development of 4 of the 11 Victorian style homes in NYC Landmark districts - Prospect Park South (PPS), and Ditmas Park (DP). Also visit BSW and DPW. two communities currently waiting to obtain landmark status from the NYC Landmark Commission.
We will see the sites where "Sophie's Choice" was filmed in 1982. Also where the recent film, "Bridge of Spies," starring Tom Hanks. See where Nellie Bly lived and the home paid for by Mr. Guggenheim in 1901, as a wedding present for his daughter Peggy. Also, a possible visit to Temple Beth Emeth and it's 1913, art-deco sanctuary. The congregation is now in its 107th year.
